CONSTRUCTION OF A GUNITE
POOL
We at Heritage Pool Company have over 25 years in the gunite pool
industry. Our staff has been involved in almost every construction
situation imaginable, from everyday residential settings to the construction of
massive commercial water park rides. We cover the full gambit in
construction settings and applications.
In order to provide you, the client, with an accurate description of the
building process we have illustrated the process on this page of our site.
Steps In Building A Gunite Pool
1. Sales Call:
After receiving an inquiry from a client, a sales call is
conducted on the job site between our General Manager and the potential
client. At this sales call, an exchange of ideas about the project takes
place. Through a brainstorming process we try to understand the
expectations of the client and also try to relay our assessment of what can and
cannot be done in the setting we observe. The result of this meeting is
normally a scheduled second meeting, at which the client is provided a CAD drawing showing the previously discussed project. At this meeting,
contracts are normally signed and the project schedule is discussed and put into
motion.
2. Start of Project
All permits applicable to this project will be acquired by
Heritage. Layout of pool on site and actual digging of pool occurs.
3. Gunite Phase
A 3/8" rebar grid on 12" centers will be
placed in floor and walls of structure. 6" - 4000 psi concrete
floor will be poured. The walls of the pool will be sprayed with Gunite
approx. 8" - 10" thick.
4. Plumbing and Tile
All plumbing will be ran to previously specified
filtration area. 6" x 6" frost proof decorative tile will be set
at water line.
5. Decking
Prior to pouring of concrete apron, all plumbing will be
pressure tested to verify integrity. Concrete apron will be formed to
specified dimensions. 4" - 4000 psi concrete with 3/8" rebar on
12" centers.
6. Filtration
All specified filtration hardware will be connected prior
to fill.
7. Marcite
Entire interior surface of pool will be covered at a
varied thickness of not less than 3/8" - 5/8" with Marcite (2:1 ratio
of White Cement / Marble dust) and hand trowelled to a smooth
finish. Owner will fill pool.
8. Completion
At the end of the building process a final meeting
is scheduled. At this meeting clients are instructed on care and
maintenance of their new pool. Also, a certificate of completion is
awarded to the new owner of the pool.
